Dear Prospective Employer,
My passion for educating others shows with every word I teach.
My ability to stimulate and uplift others though life’s different experiences has been
combined with my conceptual knowledge of math to inspire students to learn and
understand math easier. Introducing new cognitive methods of learning has always been
of high importance to me as an educator. During my years of teaching, I have enjoyed the
process of unveiling to a student that they have the ability to see mathematics from a
functional and useful method in day-to-day life. Helping students “get it” during my
teaching years has been very rewarding and flames my passion to want to teach and
motivate to a greater extent.
My resume will show the experience and education I have obtained thus far. A Bachelor
degree in Mathematics and the complete coursework for the Master of Secondary
Education are only a few proficiencies that have helped me become a great teacher.
However, these degrees do not exemplify the complete skill set needed to truly teach
math. The ability to energize and empower students is an invaluable skill that I have
learned and applied to teach math. My day-to-day experiences as a classroom teacher,
working with students from all different walks of life and the everyday collaboration and
studying of my fellow teachers over my three year teaching period has been essential.
These involvements have contributed to my growth as a well rounded, inspiring teacher
with patience, poise, tolerance and a willingness to learn more and more.
In closing, I look forward to meeting with you and thoroughly discussing how my
experiences and unique characteristics could truly benefit your school. Thank you for
your time and consideration. I am available upon your request and I look forward to
hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Torry C. Thompson
